The Mask Poem by The masked one

The Mask

This is not what I am…
I am not what you think…
I am not who you think I am…
This fear…… This Hatred…
What if you see me for what I am …..? What if you know the truth…?
Will you like me … the real me; the one not hidden behind the mask….
Or will you shun at the glance of the abomination that I am …
You know not me….yet you love me …..And to retain your embrace I shield behind this wretched mask….
This body covered by sores of sin, this soul so badly burnt within, craves for redemption from a noble soul, a soul so pure as yourself…..as I dwell within the cover of my mask badly in need of the breeze that touched you ….to touch me….I see you smiling at my mask ……I hate this thing that covers my face, Yet I fear …oh this fear………!
