The Masquerade Poem by Adriana Romero

The Masquerade

There is a story untold, one locked deep in my soul.
So big yet unknown, my own secret to hold.
A story almost forgotten, but made my heart rotten.
Two masked strangers, unknown of the dangers.
Dancing around a masquerade ball, wasn’t long before one had to fall.
Confetti and fire, lost in the attire.
Poisonous wine, together they dined.
Smoke and mirrors, his touch she feared.
Escaping she fell, trapped under his spell.
In a circus of chaos, a child she lost.
Illusioned with fright, she always lost sight.
A ball to everyone, a nightmare for one.
Laughter and fright, amidst the moonlight.
A princess shot down, by the new knight in town.
His hands on her chest, her soul laid to rest.
Unfortunate but true, a story made from two.
A story once forgotten, made her heart rotten.
