THE MAYBE OF LIFE
The maybe of life
has a strange fascination
often more real
than the present
as in reverie or images
in some sweet dreams
what's to be is a world of its own
the miracle of what seems.
How weak is reason
in its limited dimension
fancy is an endless kaleidoscope
that stretches to the labyrinth of the furthest domain.
How tame and dull is certainty
enclosed in self-satisfied constraint
it ceases to look beyond
the maybe of life it looks in disdain
