The Memory Poem by Dmitriy Gershkovich

The Memory

Rating: 5.0

The dusk is here as I try to put my mind to rest,
Truth is that I’ve been at it for a while.
And yet I miss the touch of your soft hand’s caress,
I close my weary eyes and see your pretty smile.

I stroke your hair as I brush it from you face,
You throw your arms around me and pull me in.
And for a moment I am lost in your embrace,
Your hot breath sending chills throughout my skin.

And then the kiss, oh how can I forget?
When I can still recall the way you taste.
I am lying here calm and yet,
It wasn’t long ago that my heart raced.

And at this time you might be miles away,
But know that you are always on my mind.
And that I’m looking forward to another day,
When it is you again, that in my arms I’ll find.

You write great songs, Dmitriy! :) This is another personal favorite of mine. And then the kiss, oh how can I forget? /When I can still recall the way you taste./I am lying here calm and yet, /It wasn’t long ago that my heart raced. I don't think this is what you intended or expected to hear, but this stanza is a chorus to me. It all ties into the memory.
