The Mess Poem by Talile Ali

The Mess

Winds blow hard
Clouds roll dark
The Sun it seldom shines
Folk detached
Nestled in their patch
Wonderin about scared & blind
When did we all
Lose all we knew
Surrenderin to their wicked way
Where is the heart
& courage so true
Buried beneath ruble & decay
Fight on my dying sisters & brothers
Fight against this woe & cruel strife
Rebuild a world stronger and better than this
Make it last the rest of your life
See the Folk
Splattered like yolk
Masked & gloved & living so red
All the assaults
All the attacks
From viruses & disease they've been fed
Leaders who fail
What empty shells
So debased & debauched a rules such a shame
We're all victims
Of all they have wrought
Hurting & defiling us they made it their game
We are all
Better than them
We should've never let it happen at all
We let the fools
Make all the rules
In doing so they made us all crawl
We can't make promises at this late date
All we can do is just work
Build something stronger, fresher, & true
Replacing those despicable jerks
