The Messenger Poem by Tsunami HiroshiSu

The Messenger

Poetry, she said,
was in her head and in her eyes
and on her tongue and the sunshine tasted
sweet and the words were full of letters and the stars
would sometimes ask her if she would
recite something for them
and she would always laugh and speak
of things deep and things new and
all things beautiful
and sometimes she was sad but she painted
with words to convey all the messages both
strange and sad and lovely.

She was the poet who delivered messages
to kings and queens and lovers.

She listened to sighs and queries
and wonderings and
she illuminated the world with her
words.
