The Midnight Friend Poem by Nina Takang

The Midnight Friend

My lips still quiver from yesterday's fall
My knees feel watery from the trauma ofcourse
My heart still melts when your name is said
How my eyes light up when you're in my head
I'm convinced you're my weakness, my midnight friend
And yet my strength when the sunrise's here
When the light goes out and darkness sets
I'll leave you a little something to lure you to me
The sun had it's moment, it couldn't last forever
Now the moon is here beloved midnight friend
Why don't we forget all the pain and love each other all over again?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is based on my life experience, I wrote this, when my ex would keep messaging me even after we agreed he keeps his distance. Fun fact he only wrote me between the hours of 12-6am.(midnight?) I was so excited to take his call one day, I tripped and fell on my face. Bruising my knees and lips.
