The Monsignor's Wisdom Poem by Bill Grace

The Monsignor's Wisdom

Rating: 5.0

He quoted at least once an Enlish play write -
I think it may have been Paul Harris
'That people are not against you they are for themselves'
He shared that one year he sent over 300 Christmas cards
Every one was glad to have a piece of him.

In his apartment he kept a multi frame photograph
A navy pilot who missed his carrier and crashed
Only the 'Mr.' in its caption is remembered.

Joe never traded too much on this monsignor thing
But he was proud of the honor and understood it
Proud of full colonel in the Navy Reserve
But he was still disturbed in later years of success
He didn't make the active duty cut.

I wonder if the photograph of the young pilot's plane is any clue?
