The Monument Of Silence Poem by J.C. Masa

The Monument Of Silence

I'm just a slow-burn soul in an instant-gratification world;
In the beautiful ache of waiting, I find my purpose.
Paper is my only true confidant, where I'm finally heard,
And the act of loving you is more important than possessing you,
I suppose.

Perhaps I'm just creating a monument
For someone who might never know it's there—
A permanent record of your worth,
Something I could never compare.
I have to give you credit for keeping my soul alive and creative;
Because of your constantly evolving presence, I've learned to thrive
And have patience.

I would've never imagined a small, unutilized detail
Could become a whole new world
And produce a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings,
Creating a spark of plain truth.
Though our fate is somehow on a different trail,
It may take a few miles to find its way;
I'd still enjoy the ride knowing that you're
On your way.

I am too honorable to wreck a home
That is already leaning, falling, or torn;
I will not build my joy on broken stone.
I'd rather wait for the dust to settle
And call it my own.
