The Moon Poem by ANTHONY ANIGBATA

The Moon

THE MOON

The light I see at night
That face that brighten my path
Away up in the sky
But never fails to glint

Sometimes half like a sliced watermelon
Sometimes full like a gigantic ball
Wherever the size it assumes
It gleams for the whole earth to see.

The candle of the world
To sanctum of the spirits
So big a ball but glows
Shining like a diamond at night

Its smiles blinds the dark night
It drags children to the playfield
Where tell tellers, tell their tales
And damsels dance round large log fires.

To this shore it comes every night
Sitting steadily on the charred sky
Staring at sceneries on earth

The light I see at night
The face that shines on earth
So big a ball but glows
Shinning like a diamond at night.
