The Moon Is Lonely Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

The Moon Is Lonely

Well, the moon is lonely.
Counting stars alone,
Asking which one is mine

How much more time can I waste?
Till I'm holding the one,
The one who won't let me go

Well, the moon is lonely, don't you know?
That's why it's rocking oceans.
Shore to shore searching for your kiss.

It is glowing every night.
Sometimes brighter than others
Sometimes it's partly eclipsed.

In a midnight repose
Gazing at your face
Calling out your name

Weary, you are still so far away.
The other side of the Milky Way
With a reserved, discerning fire

A burning flame that can't die
A light that won't dissolve
Without - without being lovingly chained to its fate

My living, dynamic soul
Knows only too well
The moon's sorrow

Why does it pull the tides from shore to shore
And loves you without regret
And drowns beneath the waves

The moon is lonely
Counting stars alone,
Asking which one is mine.
