The Mortal Moon Poem by Amir Hussain

The Mortal Moon

Once went I to see of love the town,
In a sea of gold, shone a platinum crown,
On the mortal moon with the iris brown,
I don't know why my eyes went down.

Her face was a blaze, every heart would admire,
In mine, of ardour she had burnt the fire,
She stole my soul, so my state was dire,
But in the land of knights, was the only squire.

In the realms of my soul, she was the only queen,
For she maked every sight, a perfect scene,
To have her as a friend, I was so keen,
Which to a drowning man, a boat does mean.

To tell her what I feel would draw her ire,
So of all my emotions, I have burnt the pyre,
For nothing to smile, in my life full of satire,
But however I try, still remains the desire.

On the way to her home, I took my heart along,
To cheer me up, for the journey was long,
Sang I the whole night, of sorrow the song,
The address was right, but the route was wrong.

In a reverie, I was lost, my heart I told,
Better to forget you or see, my woes grow manifold,
O! sublunary lymph with the soul of gold,
Before hugging death, your face do wish to hold.

For once O! God, my past do rewind,
To the plight of a guy, for the world is blind,
To erase all her memories, from my mind,
But all around me, only her do I find.

From the path I have chosen, it is hard to return,
But being nothing beyond is a matter of concern
Only once, O! Girl, for my heart do turn,
Till death of your desire, the fire will burn.

Now to you, a secret please let me confide,
For you, a million deaths have I died,
When I see this gap grow wide and wide,
For to gain your trust, much have I tried.

It feels like bliss to have you in sight,
And the warmth of your presence, no need to cite,
Of the longing's lamp, your sight is the light,
Make me your priest to pray day and night.

For all have I lost, to me grant this favour,
On this face divine, may a frown come never,
Blessed is the one, gets chosen by you whoever,
Worry not my heart, for we shall love her forever.

Of the life's ship, a sail sans the mast,
Of your present, neither the future nor the past,
Am only a dune in this desert vast,
A peek in whose life will make you aghast.

The aura of your grace, now do I feel,
Having got a mound, in no mood to heal,
As I recall our chats with your random peal,
I swear O dear, boldens for you my zeal.

A pearl you are, easy to lose, but hard to find,
So the love for you has to be one of its kind,
My heart is trounced, subdued is my mind,
To this swain's plight, the world is blind.

In the ball of bliss, in sorrow I dance,
Of the mortal moon, having caught a glance,
In awe I gazed at her wondrous stance,
Little I knew had begun a saga of romance.

You glistering eyes always make me wonder,
Would my confession of love prove a blunder?
For I fear to ever see you, to me thunder,
But I stand mute seeing you my heart plunder.

Took my life a turn, the moment you came,
And then I realized, was now not the same,
Having beaten my heart in of love the game,
Please make me your friend O! divine dame.

A guy was I shy, never could you I face,
Only dream to get in your heart a place,
As I am forced to run of life the race,
I try to slow but you only quicken your pace.

The dreams of life, as I put to ink,
In the fate of a moth, I see a link,
Being alone on a ship aboutto sink,
Awake in the dark, without a wink.

For the sake of my plight, O Girl do hark,
Against whom even the heaven feels stark,
As I stand in this dolorous dark,
A day in which, only your love shall mark.

Of my soul's empire, you own the throne,
So how can I live, when you are gone,
Now since fell I in love on my own,
I know, am destined to forever alone.

How to express my love, I am all at sea,
For of your admirers, very long is the queue,
O God, her friend if ever I cannot be,
From this mortal body, just make my soul free.

As the night arrives with no hope of the morn,
When the moon is gone, a solitude is born,
With legs so weary and eyes so worn,
To walk with you, the desire is forlorn.

As I conclude, O! fairy sent from above,
With the beauty of a swan and charm of a dove,
Mark my words, as I swear by Jove,
God is the witness, that you are my eternal love.
