The Night Poem by Laura Carie Dalton

The Night

Tonight was the night I called you.

We started to talk about my poems.

Tonight was The Night.

I told you that I like you.

At first you didn’t say much.

You told me not to be dependent on you.

We talked for a long time.

I’m glad I told you.

Now, my emotions are scrambled.

My heart is in knots.

I don’t know what to think.

You might not think you are something special,
But you are…..to me.

In times of need,
You helped me.

When I was down,
You picked me up.

When I needed a friend,
You were there.

I was a lost soul,
You lead me back to the right path.

You, dear sir, are a good friend.

There is no one like you.

You make me feel loved,
When I get yelled at.
I understand that you can get
‘Caught up in the moment’ wherever you go.

I do that at times.

Thanks for not hanging up when I told you…everything.

Thank you, my friend.
