The Night - Poem by Smeliton Paynes
The sound of distant drums
the whisper of the night
All will come out and haunt you
And give you all a fright.
I hear a distant howling
howling in the night
Something creeping up behind you
Trying to give you a fright.
A flash of teeth on a blood red sky
I shiver in the cold, cold night
I open the door and go inside
to the shelter of the night.
