The Nightmare Poem by Maya Trowborst

The Nightmare

A blanket of sadness covered me.
The icy breath of death filled the air.
My vision blurred with tears of agony,
As i gazed upon My Nightmare.

They were dead, if not dying.
As i sat, helpless, bound.
I screamed and sat crying
Only to see their bodies hit the ground.

The screams, echoing through my head,
The laughter of the monster taunting me
As he painted the field red.
As he cut down my friends, my family.

It's not real! It's not real!
It can't be! it can't be!
It's all a dream! fake! unreal!
This nightmare! this monstrosity!
