The Tree Poem by Maya Trowborst

The Tree

Rating: 2.5

I have stood here
From my birth.
year by year.
Day by day.

I once stood among others,
My mothers and fathers,
My sisters and brothers.
We all once stood together.

Now i stand alone.
Bugs chew away my jagged skin.
Around my feet a floor of stone.
My family is gone.

Many people pass me,
Many birds perch upon my arms.
Yet even though i can not see,
I know my forest is gone.
