The Numbness Poem by empty shell

The Numbness

Numbness my friend,
Why have you deserted me?
We've been together for so long
You were there when I was down
You were there when I was cold
You were there when I was out
You were there when I was alone
Do you wish for me to feel pain?
I do not wish to feel
This pain is unbearable
Please come back
I need you
Don’t you remember the good times?
The people we conquered?
The fears we threw down?
You helped me reach into the dark
You helped me walk through the flames
We were fearless heroes
People shouted
People cheered
Accolades and praise
The lives we fixed and saved
I am counting sheep
Watching the pot
Checking my watch
Where are you?
I need you
