The Ocean Poem by Daniel Fortuna Jr.

The Ocean

Oh ocean of the world how great thou art.I gaze upon thy glorious & magnificent beauty with fear & reverence as I stand here & ask the age old question, where dost thou cometh from?Wondering whence thy power has in store for me & for all as I step into thy cold &, at times, turbulent waters.I ponder upon the seemingly perpetual ebbs & flows of thine enigmatic & unfathomable workings.Istand with the element of fear flowing through me &think upon thine unfair & unforgiving nature as I am overwhelmed with ambiguity by not knowing whether or not I will be swept out by the powerful pull of thine under-toe; an element out of many that comprises thine awesome & intimidating force that I find myself in.Oh where dost this great force that thou hast come from? For if, therefore, the duration of my life I contemplated upon this most difficult of all question, the answer wouldstillbe to no avail for me. For I am, thus, only left to accept thy stubbornnessto revealing thine answer & appeasing the many who seeketh it.So I am left floating here in thin intimidating & unpredictable existence; hoping to take advantage of the waves that are brought forth in my direction by thee. That I, with the friendly guidance of serendipity, may choose the wave that brigeth me ashore & pray that I will not drown within this great entity called the ocean.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
is an analogous perspective of life & the way that it is,which, in a sense, works similar to the ocean. The "current" epitomizingthe intangible force, or element of life that is time; a forcethat continuously changes things in life that effect everyone & everything either negatively, or positively. The undertow, or undercurrent being analogous to the negative thing[s] that can happen to someone, in which they can either survive from or not.The "ebbs & flows", referred to in the poem is another epitomizing reference to the perpetually intermittent changes of life. Interestingly enough, what triggered me to write this poem was actually the Led Zeppelin song; anybody who's a fan of Zeppelin would know what song I'm talking about - the title to this poem is a hint...lol
