The Old Song Poem by Lynne RBC

The Old Song

Rating: 5.0

You intended it
to end
I did too.
We tried.
I walked the right way
you left.
But we are bound to meet
somehow
In an intersection of thoughts
somewhere
in between these skips and strides
of lost memories
and heart throbs.
You gained the world
I earned a home
we both failed.
We still long
belong
prolong
this same old song.
You - the music
I - the words
in harmony
torn eternally
unconsciously

we play on.
