The One Who Daydreamed Of Success And Renown Poem by Francis Duggan

The One Who Daydreamed Of Success And Renown

From humble beginnings he knew of great success
Became wealthy and famous and lived at a fashionable address
The one who daydreamed of success and renown
Became one of the wealthiest men in the town
In his seventieth year and divorced from his sixth wife
The one known as the Reaper called time on his life
His wives and twelve children in court cases dispute his will
Where the loser in solicitors fees will face a huge bill
He achieved his daydreams but never knew of happiness
And he died of a heart attack from too much stress
His millions to him happiness did not bring
Which goes to prove money is not everything
His remains at rest in the town cemetery
The one who became wealthy in money and grew poor spiritually.
