The Ones - Poem by Juvela Obi
The ones that laugh the loudest
Are the ones that must force themselves
Just to laugh at all.
The ones who are hurt the worst
Are the ones that never complain.
The ones that need to express pain
Are the ones that never say anything.
The ones that should scream
Are the ones that are quiet.
The ones that need to cry
Are the ones that don’t shed tears.
The ones who are weakest
Are the ones that look strong.
The ones that need friends
Are the ones that sit alone.
The ones that need most to be seen
Are the ones that try hardest to be invisible.
The ones that defend justice for others
Are the ones that haven’t felt it for themselves.
The ones that need help the most
Are the ones most afraid to accept it
Much less ask for it.
