The Other Battle Poem by Robert Longley

The Other Battle

Remember me for how I lived
And not just how I died
Remember me on sunny days
And not just when you cried

Remember me in noble causes
Half a world away
Remember that I loved you all
Each and every day

Others went before me
And more will follow still
It's such a hardened burden
Living, knowing how to kill

Take away their burden
When they come home to stay
Help them put the past behind
When they put their gun away
