The Other Day I Forgot Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

The Other Day I Forgot

The other day I forgot myself
I took a moment from darkened mind
To realize
I didn’t know the place I was stuck
Was I alive?

The other day I lost myself
In the busy going going of the day
Was reminded
Of my heart beating inside of me
Had been blinded

The other day I finally got it
With rhythm resonating in my pulse
Each repeating
Together strength within the memory
Come to believing

The other day so there it was
How I had misjudged all first loves
Lacking my trust
Found an empty dark that removed life
Back to the gut

The other day my toes tapping
I found a new dance step, new jumps
Smile alighting
Dare to brave the dark inside jungles
A song fighting
