The Others Poem by Alexander Cote

The Others

Join me on the mountain top
Come up and view the matted masses
Who walk like startled herds
Of wild animals
Who move with glossy eyed hunger
Who's legs shakes in the presence
Of giants
I too watched from below before
Looking up to those who berated my battered brain
People who believed they knew my mind
The things I thought, the reasons I believed what I believed
No one knows what or who I am or you are or how we feel
They know themselves and the muddled thoughts that cloud their brains
Above or below or on the same plane it does not matter
See me and know that
Life isn't a anything more than what you believe
And any search beyond
Is trite
So come up and join me on the mountain top
And together we can watch
