THE PAINS AND PRIDE OF MOTHERHOOD
From conception you went through hell
Carrying a stranger you never knew
Complete alien, a foetus trapped in the uterus
Looking light and easy from the beginning
Then gradually the weight increased
Causing pains and consuming energy
Sometimes you lost your strenght
Trying to pick your steps from one place to another
Yet you never terminated me
An entrepreneur indeed you are
Investing your pride in pains
Not bargaining what you would gain or lose
You did not ponder what I would become
Or how I would pay you back
Would he come alive or dead
This were not your thought
As this pride spur you on
Soon I would become a mother
This was all you cared about
Even in theatre where many have reach without returning
You lie uncovered and subconscious
Then voices of the experts that gathered
Refusing to weep for your travails
Would kept shouting push push Push
Sometimes the specialist would utter
This can't come out this way
She must be operated on
A state where no woman could chose life or death
Still you longed to hear my first cry
When you brought me out to earth
Then I become your dearest,
Your first love,
Your pains and your pride
Like the hunter's bag hang around his shoulder
So I become your pendant
Many times you back me on your back
Having firewoods on your head
Staggering along alone
You always carry me everywhere you go
Yet you never curse your fate
What excruciating time you endeaured
Mortgaging all for me
Even when I'm pained
You wish it happen to you
What journey of endless commitment
Yours indeed shows pride and pains in motherhood
A pathway that campioned my existence
