The Past, The Present Poem by Alice Winters

The Past, The Present

I see her,
that girl I used to be.
When I had a family, friends,
people who cared.
I remind myself I should not be stuck in the past,
that the past is keeping me from reality.
I used to smile, laugh, dance and play'
that was just the past.
I stay in the past,
so I don't need to be reminded of the present.
But that is what's haunting me,
the present.

it's lovely, I do have one thing to correct change 'I used to smile, and laugh, and dance, and play' into 'I used to smile, laugh, dance and play' that's it, lovely poem by the way, very evocative
