No one said the path is easy
But we walk it anyway
Sometimes it is rugged
Causing ankles to be turned
Stones stick up and cruelly
Cut the flesh of tender feet
Roots reach out greedy fingers
To tear away our spirits
And level us in the dirt
But not every day is stormy
Or abandons us
Mottled and broken.
The sun stays ever with us
If not always in our eye
Hope beyond every bend
Over every hill
We often overlook
Smooth stretches of steady ground
The companions by our side
Cool shade
Playful breezes
Find peace with every step
The path is ever changing
Don't waste the journey looking back
You won't see where you're going
