The Path Of Life Poem by River Boswell

The Path Of Life

My soul: Needs you
My heart: Wants you
My mind: pushes away from you.
Is this what love feels like?
I've been hurt to many time that I'm blinded by what love isn't.
If I'm blinded by what it isn't, how can I see what it is?
I want to love someone and be loved.
But if I can't love myself how can I love someone else?
If I can't love someone how can I be loved?
So many people have pushed, and kicked, and screamed at me
I feel like my body is in a box I can't breathe in..
I scratch and pull and my skin
screaming at the person I see in the mirror
because that person I see in the mirror is not ME!
Every night I cry myself to sleep,
every day I fight to keep up on my feet,
I'm pushed to the ground yet I'm still standing!
I chase after dreams that aren't mind,
to please other people because I can't please myself.
People say 'make yourself happy' 'put yourself first'
but if I put myself first they say I'm selfish? !
I'm sorry to the world that I can't be perfect
That I can't stand up to the expectations that they put down for me.
I'm trying!
and they say that's what matters..
Then WHY does it never feel like it,
Maybe because it isn't?
U push yourself to be this perfect mold that the world forms you into
then if you fall they don't pick up the pieces they made.
YOUR forced to pick up the broken pieces you never formed.
Maybe you were lucky to find someone amazing
to mold you into something new
Yet again.... They just let you fall further.
In the end of this all, does it REALLY matter?
I want to stop trying but if I stop then I fail.
At least if I keep going it shows how strong I am.
Maybe I should just keep walking my path..
I guess......
Let's see where it gets me at the end of this all.
