The Path That Goes Before Us Poem by grace mariner

The Path That Goes Before Us

The path that goes before us,
grows shorter everyday.
To lose our fellow travelers,
is part of the price we pay.
To argue and carry grudges,
and abandon on your way,
will haunt and cause you sorrow,
that's the price you pay.
To give up lovely moments,
and not say what you need to say,
make you lose so many I love yous,
that's the price you pay.
To turn away from those in need,
you pass along the way,
your heart can't be uplifted,
that's the price you pay.
To be blind to those who suffer,
if their tears you push away,
you'll never learn to ease ones pain,
that's the price you pay.
And when you lay me in the ground,
all the words you didn't say,
will hover round in dark regret,
that's the price you'll pay.
