The Pathological Dreamer Poem by Nicholas Jenner

The Pathological Dreamer

Shall I spark this flame with my illustrious mental tinderbox?
Allow me to take such liberties and eject us from the norm into an unfathomable depth of imagination,
My mind works in such ways not too dissimilar to your own,
Come,
Spread your inner child’s wings and soar with me in heavenly nonsense,
Know that our destination is not known,
BE aware that all that is palpable flicks now past your eyelids,
A pathological dreamer I am,
What a privileged victim you are,
Oh! The places we’ll go!
Don’t slow down now!
For speed is our ally,
Cart wheeling through mindless matter,
Faster and faster we fly through the trivial,
Brush reality away from those chained shoulders,
My friend,
We have work to do.
