The Peace Of The 'otamiri' River Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

The Peace Of The 'otamiri' River

Early morning or late evening
When men have exhausted their strength
And retired to renew for next exploit
I sit to watch the 'Otamiri' river flow
In the fading moonlight glare
Or the retiring sunlight rays

The peace of nature with which it flows
Rumbling quietly in ceaseless flow
Serenely unperturbed in continuous motion
As the fishes free from human enemies
Swim to the bank in carefree style

The grasses gently bow in obeisance
To the direction of the water flow
Even the game around the river side
Come out to drink in peaceful leisure
And whichever side of the river you look
Everything is at peace as nature has designed
