The Pearl In The Indian Ocean Poem by Ayanle Isak

The Pearl In The Indian Ocean

Rating: 5.0

In Mogadishu's cradle, I first saw light,
Where waves sang lullabies through the night.
The ocean's breath, a gentle, salty kiss,
Each day begun with coastal bliss.

But now I dwell where concrete skies loom gray,
In an urban maze, far from the bay.
No seagull's cry, no whisper of the tide,
Just city sounds where memories reside.

I yearn for the sea, where my spirit flew,
Where azure horizons framed every view.
Mogadishu's shores, where my heart took flight,
Underneath the stars in the soft, warm night.

The city's hum can't drown the call,
Of crashing waves and their enthralling thrall.
I dream of sand beneath my feet once more,
Of ocean's roar and the endless shore.

In this urban cage, my thoughts drift free,
To where I was born, by the boundless sea.
Mogadishu's embrace, forever in my soul,
A coastal love that keeps me whole.

One day, I'll return to that sandy line,
Where sky meets water in a perfect sign.
Until then, I'll dream, and let my heart be,
A sailor lost, still longing for the sea.
