The Perfect Hell Of Perfect Love Poem by Mary Champion

The Perfect Hell Of Perfect Love

When you've had one taste of Heaven, then you never can rest
‘til you're holding it all. You won't accept second best.
When you've had one taste of Heaven, though you're ages apart,
for as long as you live it will be there in your heart.
And it won't set you free.
So whatever you see,
you will compare to the best
and it won't pass the test.

When you've had one taste of Heaven you will never make do
and no less than perfection will be pleasure for you.
You'll search restlessly on
when the hope is all gone.
Once you've tasted the best
you'll never stand for the rest.

When you've had one taste of Heaven then you'll see it too clear,
the illusions will fade, and you'll live with the fear
that you'll never regain what you thrilled to and lost.
When you're reaching for Heaven, there's one hell of a cost..
