Perhaps the greatest thing
I will ever build
will never stand upon a hill
or carry my name.
Perhaps no one will ever applaud it.
Because the finest work of my life
is happening quietly within me.
In the thoughts I no longer believe.
The wounds I refuse to pass on.
The boundaries I have finally learned
are another form of love.
It is in choosing kindness
when bitterness would be easier.
In admitting when I am wrong.
In forgiving myself for who I was
before I knew better.
There are victories no one will ever see,
the moment I pause instead of reacting,
the day I stop returning
to what diminishes me, or
the morning I look into the mirror
and speak to myself with tenderness.
I am learning there is
no finish line to becoming.
No perfect version of me
waiting somewhere ahead.
Only this beautiful, unfinished life,
asking me each day to become a little more
honest, a little more conscious,
a little more compassionate,
a little more myself.
And perhaps one day I will look back
and realise the greatest thing
I ever created was not something
I owned or achieved, but the person
I quietly became while nobody
was watching.
