The Placebo Poem by Avinash Nair

The Placebo

Once there was this dream,
A hope and will to be
Something out of the ordinary!
And then there's this time,
A present, at present so sublime
That runs between you and your life.
Placid yet placed between the necessary.
And presumably, while you sink into the reverie,
Of the living and the leaving,
As and when you think of the duality of life
You reach back in time and pull up those thoughts.
The ones which once were yours.
Now, seemingly too distant to relate!
But you play with them again
While you learn to keep the Change a handy thing.
You learn to smile while still, you think,
Yet you need something out of the ordinary
To put that purpose onto a page.
So that you can narrate it to folks
When they ask you about your life!
