The 'Poem A Day' Project ~ Day 173

I’m a hamster on the run
Took my chance to break free
I waited long and picked my moment carefully

I’m out of my cage
With a joyful squeal
Away from pointless running inside that damn wheel

Its not that I’m mistreated
Or kept in a bad state
But every creature likes to take control of their fate

I saw a break and took it
Sprinting past my owners knee
To satisfy the piece of wild animal still in me

I’ll scurry under floorboards
And scamper all around
She’ll try to track me down by following my sound

She doesn’t need to worry
I just want to explore
But I will come wandering back across the floor

After a couple of days adventure
When I have fulfilled my mood
And more importantly when I am missing my food
