The Point Poem by Matt Burgett

The Point

What's the point in life
When hurt is all I cause
It makes me crave a knife
My life would be no loss

I'm not someone to trust
For I do not allow you to see
the things for which I lust
Deep inside of me

Cast out and shamed
For what lies within my heart
No need for explanation
You'd kill me before I could start

So what's the point I ask again
If you really wish to know
Then look at me face to face
And I'll tell you what lies below

But take a swing I ask you not
When you hear what I have to say
I'd rather hear the guns last shot
Than live with the shame today

So what I ask is the point
When all that's left is shame
Tie me down then walk out
And leave me to the flames
