The Princess, The Frog & The Prince (Based On A True Story) Poem by Jonathan H. Scott

The Princess, The Frog & The Prince (Based On A True Story)

THE PRINCESS had tired of the tall, handsome prince, who
Loved nothing, but all of his gold.
So, she soon embarked on a quest for true Love. (At)
Least, that's how the story is told.

From this prince to that prince our princess was passed. She
Met princes from kingdoms galore.
Yet, they were the same, with their cold, hollow hearts. And,
She cried as they showed her the door.

Now, there was a gypsy (lived deep in the wood) , who
Could see what the future would hold.
Disguised went the princess, who longed for the truth. Oh,
The wind (it blew ever so cold) !

"Oh, what I'd not give for just one lowly frog who
Would love me with all of his heart.
And, I'd love him too and for all of my life. For
No kingdom could tear us apart."

Then, into her crystal the gypsy did gaze. As
The glass would show all that would be.
And, she saw a frog with a heart full of love. (That's
Not all that the gypsy could see.)

"I warn you, my child, " said the gypsy that night. "To
Betray your true love is a sin.
I've not met the princess who knew her own heart. And,
The prince with the gold—he will win."

Soon after that night, she would meet her sweet frog. Oh,
It's funny what life has in store.
The love of her life was the froggy, indeed! He
Was all that she wanted and more!

But, there came a prince who was richer than rich. And,
The love of her life had "just Love."
So mismatched were they (yes! she married the prince) While
Her frog was sent down from above.

So, there was our princess and there was her prince. She
Loved nothing of him but his gold.
And, that was the way that she lived out her days. Just
The same as the gypsy foretold.
