The Promise

To God I prayed “I’m incomplete
Please hear Your servant’s cry”
He made a way for me to meet
A treasure none can buy

Unequalled by the brightest star
Nor by the morning dew
This jewel God brought me from afar
Is no-one else but you

Inside my heart began to glow
These eyes could only stare
My cup was filled to overflow
When first I felt you there

How could more love this child endure
My heart began to race
From God you are a gift so pure
A measure of His grace

Through you I see The Father’s plan
Through you I feel His touch
His precious gift to mortal man
I love so very much

Be in my smile, the tears I weep
Be in the songs I sing
Be in this heart I give to keep
With all the love You bring

Such love I had no hope to find
Emotions flood my heart
Through You this child’s no longer blind
From death I’ll take no part

I fear no more the coming wrath
Both you and I agree
So we can walk God’s chosen path
That through Your eyes I see
