The Proposal Poem by James Casey

The Proposal

Rating: 5.0

The Proposal

Tis the season and I have a reason,
For you to lunch on the Barby with me

We'll go the the seashore and do a lot more
Please come with me and you'll see

The food will be great, we shouldn't be late
On this fine sunny day I'll come and take you away

I'll be coming at noon, I may sing you a tune
Though I'm sure I'll be slightly off key

The sun will be high, way up in the sky
When we get there, they have a great bill of fare

No fancy duds here, just good food and cheer
They've fries covered with cheese

With steaks sure to please
And salads, with taste, to die for

The beers really cold and be I so bold
I've a ring in my pocket for thee

Just give me your heart it's the best way to start
So Please Lunch On The Barby With Me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Summer 1988 There was a place called the 'Barby ' (short for Barnabe's Grill) that in the summer grilled food on their deck and served FF with it. I did ask Chris to marry me and she said yes. There are many poems in Poem Hunter about the love we still share today
