The Proposal Poem by Chelsea Lybbert

The Proposal

Wondering through the night,
The snow sparkles on the ground,
The fresh powder is disturbed,
As the couple walks slowly in rhythm,
Heading for the shelter of the oak,
Where the snow had not yet reached,
Only to stop and listen,
As a song flies through the wind.
A sweet melody sets the mood,
As he looks into her eyes,
He grabs her hand as he bends to one knee,
And reaches for a small black box,
Hidden within his jacket.
He looks once again to her eyes,
And opens the small black box.
Her eyes fill with tears,
As a small ruby red ring sparkles,
Brighter than the white snow.
He slips the ring on her hand,
And while standing up,
He embraces her in a long,
Heartfelt kiss.
