The Pull Of The Water Poem by Connie Leigh Lindsay

The Pull Of The Water

The water is calling to me; begging me to surrender.
It's call is so strong that I'm not sure I can ignore it.
I know that if I don't, the calm blue will be the last thing I see.
Still the knowledge of this is not enough for me to change my course.
The beauty of the different shades of blue dances before my eyes.

It's as if I'm mesmerized by the feeling of all my cares going away.
I'm finally at peace with everything that's been going wrong in my life.
I'm powerless to stop myself from going farther in.
Sure I have friends and family but they seem so far away.
The pull of the water is stronger than anything else.

Is it so wrong of me to want out with so many things gone wrong?
Can I not have at least a break from all the pain within my heart?
The pull of the water is so great, can I not just sleep?
