The knife was never raised where I could see,
No words announced the breaking of our bond.
It came in small omissions, subtle shifts,
A glance withheld, a promise left undone.
I sensed it slowly, like a shadow spread
Across the ground I thought I walked alone.
No accusation hung between our lips,
No clash to mark the moment's cruel reveal.
The trust dissolved in silence, unremarked,
Yet left its hollow echo in my chest.
I carry what was stolen without proof,
The quiet wound that cannot be undone.
And still I meet your eyes as if unaware,
While memory keeps the ledger of your choice,
Teaching me that some betrayals need no voice.
