The Rain And The Farmer Poem by Raghurama Raju

The Rain And The Farmer

Rating: 4.0

Once into the grip of a severe drought,
A peaceful nation was pitiably brought!
Lakes and rivers were no longer visible,
All the crops have gone invisible!
Thirst and hunger ruled everywhere,
Food and water were seen nowhere!
Men of all faiths sat alongside,
Praying their Gods with their religions aside!
Kind Nature has at last melted,
Dark clouds were at once sighted!
Winds howling and clouds roaring,
Soon it was heavilypouring!
Pretty girls cursed the rain,
Since their lovely dresses have gone in vain!
Merchants looked at the sky in anger,
Sensingtheir sales in danger!
Angry leaders abused the clouds,
For splitting their party crowds!
Gloomy clouds said in pain,
' Nobodyreally welcomes the rain! '
Then from his humble hut came out a peasant,
Showing his face most pleasant!
With dancing feet and shining eyes,
Thus he addressed the raining skies!
' Thank you clouds! Thank you!
For your mercy, forever we thank you! '
Merry clouds then said in comfort,
'There is at least one who praises our effort! '
