The Rain Of Memory Poem by Nick Judt

The Rain Of Memory

Rating: 4.7

Rain pitter-patters on my window pane
Collecting on the glass in sad designs
I sit inside next to my blazing fire
My glass eyes staring straight through the flame

The flames flicker up in spiral designs
Like red towers reaching into the sky
The light throws shadows on my dark, dim house
Reminding me of worlds I left behind.

At one time the rain seemed so far away
And light was with me wherever I went
But that was a long, long time in the past.
And my life didn't seem so very dim.

If you would ask me why I where so sad
I could not name you one single event
Maybe it's just the pressure of life's path
Or the accumulative stress it bears.

Whatever the cause, the result is clear:
The gold of my life is a thing of past.
