At night I wake up to a voice,
Voices by a character inside my head.
And leaves me with no choice,
No choice as I lay stiff on my bed.
Anesthetized and numb I lay there,
In shackles never to let me free.
From the corner of my eye I see,
The dark figure standing besides me.
In thin air it vanquishes,
To reappear looking at me in my eye.
In diabolic games it rejoices,
Malicious words that aren't lies.
I hear the sound of steps,
Of someone hastily climbing the stairs.
Swift it stands beneath the drapes,
It says 'welcome to the demons lair'.
Now it confronts me in sheer malevolence,
A crushing force collapsing my chest.
Staying awake is now my only defense,
As I choke and struggle for my breath
A sudden sense of calm overcomes me now,
I twist and turn as life creeps into me somehow.
My head's heavy and sweat trickles down my brow,
But its recurring and into the abyss again I drown.
