The Red Balloon Poem by Rashida Mack

The Red Balloon

My heart,
full, round and Macintosh red,
bobs,
lifted into the air,
with your love,
startlingly serene
against the Robin’s egg blue sky,
it drifts,
and swims
further and further away,
amongst the shores
of infinity,
as the open hand that once held the ribbon,
remains attached to its quivering arm,
while the eyes watch love,
wave goodbye.
