A relationship should be
like a river,
Channelled and smooth sailing,
steady and strong.
Flowing in one direction,
Curves and edges planed,
Lush grassy green banks,
Emotions never feigned.
But no, not us.
We are the oncoming flood.
Ours is the River
during the storm.
Clashing.
Unpredictable.
Raging.
Destructive.
There is but one hope
As the water moves south,
Widening- widening thrice
Till the River meets its mouth.

A relationship should be like a river, Channelled and smooth sailing, steady and strong. What a love should be, and how the sufferings and lack of joy that come along with a break up....... very good poem which makes us think. tony
