Georgia Hindmarch Poems

How is it, that just a smile;
A simple expression of the face,
Lifts spirits and warms hearts?
...

Sitting at the hearth,
There you will find her
Gazing deeply into the flickering flames
Away from the others, in the corner
...

A relationship should be
like a river,
Channelled and smooth sailing,
steady and strong.
...

Inside a normal closet,
What do you expect to find?
Clothes, coats, shoes;
An ugly, forgotten shirt?
...

His hair shone with
The light of a thousand tiny flames

Soft, springing curls
...

A man stands at the water's
edge,

Breathing in the scent of salt spray,
...

In my dreams I see you, centered and unmoving,
You stand as still as a Greek statue; and as beautiful yet,
All hard lines and planes; a sloping nose; curved, full lips.
You sit tall, poised to utter perfection, but lifeless still,
...

9.

Tomorrow I am sixteen
I will be a year older, a year wiser, they say
Supposedly, anyway...
I don't see how a feeble number defines that.
...

The soft down of your pale hair
shines, like the silk of spun gold.

The glassy jewels of your azure eyes
...

When I was younger I realised,
That I was not like other children,
In many more ways than only one,
I noticed the way that I see the world
...

I sat and watched as you lay your head
Pale hair illuminating the pain on your face
In a halo of innocent light, soft skin
Smooth as a petal, covered in the dew of your tears.
...

Poetry is an art form:

Us poets create masterpieces
With words on a blank page
...

The sorrow within me
Envelopes me,
Cradles me,
Its reassuring in it's own
...

How can I tell you?
That you linger in my mind
For days on end I cannot
Think of anything but you
...

When I am down
I imagine myself
A swinging sunflower
Softly swaying to
...

I gave you my whole self
naked and exposed
my heart on my sleeve
...

I have always carried around
A certain pain
which lives in my chest
It sits there in
...

The Sadness rushes out of me
A wave, relentlessly crashing on shore
I'm trying hard to be the best I can be
I swear. Take a breath.
...

I can't get you out of my head.
A record plays in my mind.
One moment,
Over and over and over.

The Effect Of A Smile

How is it, that just a smile;
A simple expression of the face,
Lifts spirits and warms hearts?

It’s a beautiful sort of miracle
If you ask me.

With a smile so lovely as yours,
I’d wager you could bring light
Into the deepest darkness of night,
Making the sparkling stars soar,
Twinkling, brighter than ever before.

With a smile so lovely as yours,
I’d gamble you could halt a war
Soldiers would stop when they saw
Your face, would they begin to adore,
Your smile, brighter than ever before.

With a smile so lovely as yours,
I’d bet you could cure man of grief
One look and he’d have a new motif,
Long gone the sullen frowns he wore,
Grinning, brighter than ever before.

You have that effect on people,
I have noticed.
There is no smile truly
As lovely as yours...

You are a beautiful sort of miracle
If you ask me.
