The Return Of The King Poem by Mary Champion

The Return Of The King

Beneath the lavender hued sky
a golden tower crowns the tor,
a gentle zephyr breathes a sigh.
A shrouded figure steps ashore.

Upon the beach his steed awaits -
the legendary unicorn.
He mounts, heads for the tower gates -
tomorrow is his wedding morn.

A single horn which signifies
the purity of this knight's heart,
on magic hooves the bridegroom flies.
So many years they've been apart.

But now his quest is all but done,
the grail has gifted its reward.
The weary race is all but run
and Avalon awaits its Lord.
